"Dina Dina, ain't none meaner ... She rocks the house, I know cause I've seen her"
Darryl McDaniels (RUN DMC)
Dina Regine is one of a handful of top female DJs that were taking charge of the decks at the major clubs in Manhattan back in the day. Regine began her club journey in the 80s, getting hired in London to spin in NYC at a private club called Joanna's on 21st street. It was there she worked her craft and eventually landed a longtime residency at the legendary star studded Monday Nights at Heartbreak, garnering her countless celebrity private parties and Galas, a special with Mick Hucknall on MTV, as well as being the ear for many record companies about new releases. She continued the Monday Night residency at the China Club, and Au Bar after Heartbreak closed. in 1998 when Amy Sacco opened the super-hip lounge/restaurant Lot 61, she hired her buddy Regine come in to be Music Supervisor & DJ, and create a cool/sexy vibe for the massive room. "And the celebs flooded in, Meg Ryan, Melissa Ethridge, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis, Jude Law, Kevin Costner, Kevin Spacey, Julia Roberts and Cameron Diaz have all flocked to the new bar" NY Post. It was a wedding for Amy’s best friends Yvonne Force and Leo Villareal in Mexico, a ‘who’s who’ of the art world. That was the weekend that kicked off Regine’s private event company that has taken her to the mountain tops of Italy, the beaches of St. Barts, and all over the USA. Other long term club residencies include Limelight, Webster Hall, Berlin, Le Bar Bat, and Ethyl's
Regine can still be seen doing guest spots at clubs around town in between her private event work.
